Our Materials
Our bikinis are hand-made using Carvico recycled nylon Lycra, a premium eco-sustainable fabric crafted from 100% regenerated ECONYL® nylon yarn and spandex. Designed for high-performance swimwear and activewear, this fabric features four-way stretch, exceptional durability, and resistance to chlorine, sun cream, and UV rays.
ECONYL® is created by regenerating nylon waste—such as discarded fishing nets and pre-consumer materials—transforming it into high-quality fiber without compromising performance. By choosing recycled materials, we help reduce waste while creating swimwear built to last.
Our cover-ups are made from eco-friendly bamboo cotton, a soft and breathable blend produced from fast-growing bamboo pulp and cotton. Bamboo requires minimal water, no pesticides, and grows rapidly, making it one of the most sustainable natural fibers available. The fabric is biodegradable, lightweight, and gentle on the skin, offering a natural alternative to synthetic textiles.
Production
Our production is intentionally small-batch and thoughtfully made.
Each piece is produced between a female-led team of artisans in Bali and Madibu founder Madison Barrow, who hand-makes select pieces in Florida. We maintain close relationships with our seamstresses and craftspeople, ensuring ethical production, fair working conditions, and exceptional craftsmanship.
From our threads to our packaging, we prioritize sourcing from local small businesses and trusted suppliers whenever possible. By producing in limited quantities, we focus on quality, durability, and timeless design—creating pieces meant to be worn, loved, and lived in.
Packaging
We believe sustainability should extend beyond the product itself.
All Madibu Swim orders are packaged using biodegradable materials and include a reusable bikini bag designed to protect and store your swimwear.
Many of the finishing touches—such as our stickers and custom keychains—are hand-made, adding a personal element to every order we send out.
