For a Rainy Day
There’s something magical about summer storms—the way they roll in suddenly, cooling the heat, washing over the sand, and creating quiet, unforgettable moments. For a Rainy Day is a collection inspired by those fleeting but deeply cherished memories. And it’s not just about the rain—it’s about everything the rain reminds me of.
Growing up in Florida, afternoon storms were part of daily life. On hot summer days, you could always count on one rolling through. My favorite memories were made during those moments—the beach nearly empty, the sky dark and electric, and the ocean calling. I remember running into the water with my childhood friends, laughing and surfing as cool raindrops fell around us. It felt like freedom. It felt like summer.
This collection began its journey during the end of monsoon season in Indonesia. Of course, it rained the moment I arrived—perfectly on theme. We walked everywhere, danced in the rain, and surfed some of the best waves I’ve ever experienced. As the month unfolded, we explored nearby towns and found ourselves in Ubud, where I met with local seamstresses to bring the pieces to life. Sourcing ethical production has always been one of the most challenging parts of this process, but eventually, I connected with a female-led team whose values aligned perfectly with my brand. After touring their shop, I knew they were the right fit.
Every year, I return to Hawaii for one month during the winter rainy season to visit family and friends. It feels like these beautiful storms follow me—like they’re part of my story. This past January, all the girls came together for our annual trip. One afternoon, the rain rolled in again, and without hesitation, we threw on our Madibu and ran straight into the ocean. It was one of those days I’ll never forget. The beach was calm, the water impossibly blue, and the moment... pure joy.
For a Rainy Day has been a year in the making, but it’s rooted in a lifetime of memories—of summer storms, salt water, laughter, and connection. My goal with this collection, and with all the collections to come, is to bottle that feeling and share it with you through beautiful, small-batch, high-quality pieces that carry meaning. Pieces that live in your swim drawer and remind you of your favorite beach days—especially the rainy ones.
